Many years ago, it was not un-common to enter into business dealings with nothing more than a handshake. The handshake was symbolic of the commitment by two parties, to keep their agreement. People promised to payback mortgages, marriages were arranged, even Political policies were negotiated based on the integrity of a persons word. While your word might be as good as gold, it is no longer enough to enter into a binding contract. We simply don’t trust like we used to and with good reason.
